THIS IS WHERE I TELL IT LIKE IT IS.     

1. SHAPING MACHINES SUCK! I don't care what kind of sales b.s. they try to feed you, "the machine" is about 1 thing, putting PEOPLE out of work. I could go on and on about this, but I'll leave it with, THEY  SUCK!                                                                                                 2. foreign made surfboards from Thailand, China and Slovakia are flooding the market. some "Surf Tech", have tons of advertising behind them and do a really good job of hiding where they are made. THEY ARE NOT BETTER, they are not indestructible, look inside one when it breaks in half. Nothing but coffee cup foam and Paper stringers. Wake up, real boards have wooden stringers                                                                                3.   12/05/05 Clark foam shuts down. Not just his factory but an industry. Destroys molds, plugs to make molds and rocker templates. Takes 45+ years of  surf history with  him.                                                                                              4.   Prices. I have always tried to keep my prices fair. Unfortunately since the closing of  Clark no one has stepped in to fill the gap, yet. Blank quality is all over the place. I have been very happy with the walker blanks I have gotten and his prices aren't bad.  But for some of my specialty boards, "Butter" models,  No one has a polyurethane blank that will work. I have gone with EPS/epoxy and the results are FANTASTIC, But the prices are higher. I had to make a choice make em crappy or make em better. I went with better. I know they cost more, i wish they didn't. Glassing is a major expense epoxy cost more and there are more steps involved. Trust me i am not getting rich on this deal, in fact as more boards go to Thailand and China i probably won't be able to keep making surfboards for a living UNLESS people decide they want their boards made by surfers for surfers.
